          Keynote speech – Muslim Abbasi

The Vice Chancellor DUET, Dean, Dear students & DCET of Alumni. By the grace of Allah Taala, it is our great pleasure and privilege to welcome you all to the second “DCET Alumina Scholarship” event (2015).

Those students who are receiving the Scholarship will definitely feel happy, but we the members of the Alumni feel happier, for this God gifted opportunity given to us to undertake such a noble task for the utmost welfare of meritorious students of DUET.

“Let me share with you a piece of history as to how this Scholarship Program came into existence”! it was the will of Allah that three classmates of E3, DCET (3^rd batch 1972) namely Akhtar Jamil, Mohammad Ashraf and Iqbal Farooqi, passed-away in their prime time of life and so few friends thought of doing something worthwhile, in their remembrance!

In the same context we also thought of doing a little bit also for our old college (DCET), which gave us the opportunist to settle & advance in our lives and we thought of nothing-else but to launch

“Scholarships Scheme” in the memory of these (3) departed souls. Hence this scheme germinated in 2014 and by the Grace of Allah we managed to award (13) (Thirteen) Scholarships last year and subsequently this year of total (17)…… Kindly offer “Dua” for the departed souls.

Further, we would like to acknowledge the fact that this scholarship would not have been possible without the generous donations of over 50 members from both local & overseas and the membership is growing rapidly. Also this scheme would not have been successful without the help and cooperation of VC DUET & Dean Dr. Umrani, who gave tremendous help & extended their complete cooperation in this regard, with their relentless support, has made this Scholarship Program a true reality!

Presently, it will not be possible for us to mention the names of all those Alumina (Members) who contributed to this program; however we are highly indebted to those who contributed for this noble cause.

Finally, we the Karachi Chapter of (DCET Alumina) which is represented by all those members outside Pakistan (in USA, Canada, Middle East etc.) urge all recipients to use this scholarship to excel in academics, pass-out with flying colors and bring fame and respect to this institute and to the Country.

We also request you (in Future), to one day when you qualify & also become active members of this program to try & payback in its true worth to this institute with extra zeal and enthusiasm, compared with more than we are trying to achieve at this juncture.

Everybody need prayers/ Dua and we are no different, hence we seek your DUA/ Prayers that may Allah Taala accept this meager effort from our group and may (HE) helps us in doing much more for this institute and for the country. Once again, thank you VC/ Dr. Umrani, DUET & all present on this occasion!
